With reference to the first
paragraph of my despatch No.373 of the 15th.ultimo I
have the honour to inform you that Mr.W.Machell, Assist-
ant Master in Queen's College, has been obliged to retire
from the service on account of ill-health. I enclose co-
py or the Medical Certificate of the Acting Principal
Civil Medical Officer and Dr. Bell, in consequence of
melosure! 25th July 19000 Enclosure 2.
which and with the advice of the Executive Council I
granted him & gratuity of $1,518,75, as shown in the en-
closed pension paper, which in the circumstances was paid
to Mr.Machell before he left the Colony.
